Ben and Jerry's Foundation National Grassroots Grant Program Deadline: Ongoing Through the National Grassroots Grant Program, Ben & Jerry's Foundations supports nonprofit community organizations throughout the United States that bring about progressive social change by addressing the underlying conditions of societal and environmental problems. The broad goals of the program are to further social justice, protect the environment, and support sustainable food systems. Grants of up to $15,000 are provided to grassroots, constituent-led organizations that are using community organizing strategies to accomplish their goals as well as organizations that provide technical support and/or resources to such groups. The Foundation does not make grants to support social service programs. Letters of interest may be submitted at any time.

The Teach@15 Award program improves classroom learning by helping schools (grades 7-12) meet technology needs. A teen member (age 13-18) who is a registered member on www.at15.com can nominate his/her school to win a Teach@15 Award. Maximum Award: $1,500 in the form of Best Buy Gift Cards. Do you have a commitment to service? Do you go that extra mile for your community and the March of Dimes? Then this is the scholarship for you! The Bonner Foundation awards approximately 1,500 students annually who are actively engaged in community service and demonstrate a history of responsibility and good citizenship. The application process and deadlines are different for each school, so please check with your admissions office for additional resources. 
Deadline: January 15 The Captain Planet Foundation primarily makes grants to U.S.-based schools and organizations with an annual operating budget of less than $3 million. Grants are made for activities that promote and support high-quality educational programs that enable children and youth to understand and appreciate our world through learning experiences that engage them in active, hands-on projects to improve the environment in their schools and communities. Preferential consideration is given to requests seeking seed funding of $500 or less and to applicants who have secured at least 50% matching or in-kind funding. 
The Congressional Award is a public private partnership created by Congress to promote and recognize achievement, initiative, and service in America's youth. The Congressional Award provides a unique opportunity for young people to set and achieve personally challenging goals that build character and foster community service, personal development, and citizenship.

Home Baking Association's Rewards for Baking Educator Award Each year, the Home Baking Association offers an award to draw national attention to an excellent home-baking education program and the benefits of baking for family, personal and professional development. As long as the baking program reaches 6- to 18-year-old U.S. children, all types of educators who actively teach baking are eligible, including: classroom family and consumer sciences teachers, extension food and nutrition specialists, community after-school program volunteers, home-schooling parents, youth who teach other youth.

Hunter Garner Scholarship Project Yellow Light High school seniors can submit a PSA that conveys the importance of teens developing and embracing safe driving habits, and focuses on not texting while driving. The winner will receive a $2,000 college scholarship.

President's Volunteer Service Awards As a Certifying Organization of the PRESIDENT’S VOLUNTEER SERVICE AWARD, Youth Service America distributes the PVSA to those who meet or exceed the award criteria. Established in 2003, the PVSA is given by the President of the United States and honors individuals, families and groups who have demonstrated a sustained commitment to volunteer service over the course of 12 months. 
Sodexo Youth Grants Deadline: January 17 YSA will award 100 Sodexo Youth Grants of $500 each to support youth-led service projects in the United States that address the issue of childhood hunger on Global Youth Service Day (April 20-22, 2012). We're looking for projects that engage your peers, friends, families, neighbors, Sodexo employees, and other community members in creative, youth-inspired solutions to ending childhood hunger in your community. Over 17 million children in the United States - 1 in 5 children - live at risk of hunger. YSA and Sodexo are calling on young people, ages 5-25, to help make sure your peers don't have to worry about where their next meal will come from.

Starbucks Foundation The Starbucks Foundation awards grants to local nonprofit organizations that serve low income, at-risk youth between the ages of 6 and 18. These grants support innovative programs that enhance culture diversity and involve families, schools and neighborhood organizations, particularly in traditionally underserved communities. Grants are concentrated on two areas of interest: the Power of Literacy, which focuses on programs that stimulate personal development and encourage commitment to social equity, justice and environmental awareness through writing, literacy and the promotion of the voices of youth in public forums, and Leaders in Diversity, which focuses on programs that teach the value of societal diversity, with an emphasis on the development of leadership skills to build bridges of understanding between individuals, groups and communities. Preference is given to programs that offer opportunities for Starbucks employees and stores to be involved. Grants range from $5,000 to $20,000.

The NEA Foundation - EarthEcho Water Planet Challenge Grants Deadline: February 1 The Water Planet Challenge grants support service-learning programs that improve the health of our water planet. Grants are in the amount of $2,000. Interested applicants must cite specifically how they are utilizing EarthEcho's Water Planet Challenge Action Guides in the classroom with their students. From conserving energy and improving the quality of drinking water to understanding the impact of the Gulf Oil Spill, the Water Planet Challenge's extensive collection of Action Guides, videos, lesson plans, and service-learning materials will help educators connect with students and jumpstart student awareness and involvement in affecting change.

Wofford Awards The Harris Wofford Award, presented by Youth Service America and proudly sponsored by State Farm Companies Foundation, were established in 2002 to honor former Senator Harris Wofford, one of our nation's greatest public servants and long-time board member of Youth Service America. Following Wofford's goal of "making service and service-learning the common expectation and the common experience of every young person on America," the awards recognize extraordinary achievements in four categories: Youth, Organizations, Media, and Public Officials.

YSA List: The 25 Most Powerful and Influential Young People Deadline: January 31 YSA is launching the inaugural YSA List of "The 25 Most Powerful and Influential Young People" in celebration of our 25th Anniversary. The YSA List will recognize 25 young people (ages 5 - 25) around the world that have made significant, large-scale change in Health, Education, Human Service, Human Rights, and the Environment. We will announce the YSA List on Global Youth Service Day 2012 (April 20-22). The 25 winners will receive $1,000 awards to support their ongoing efforts to change the world. YSA Service Stars Through the Get Ur Good On program, YSA also recognizes YSA Service Stars with awards, including concert tickets and meet-and-greets with celebrities. YSA Service Stars are chosen from PVSA recipients, Everyday Young Heroes, YSA grantees, and active members of the Get Ur Good On social network.
